A LITTLE HISTORY
The parish of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Brampton was organized
in 1960. Worship services were initially held in the Orange Hall.
The following year, property on Mill Street South, where the church
is presently located, was purchased. A Building was erected in 1964.
In 1988, the building addition that you now enjoy was completed,
affording a larger worship and office space, as well as a basement
that is used to accommodate the child care Centre.
In 1999, the people of Augsburg decided to build again, adding a
parish nurse office, meeting and storage rooms, as well as additional
worship and fellowship hall space. In addition to worship, the parish
has also provided the space for community centered activities.
Although the original members were primarily German immigrants,
today the parish membership represents many different ethnic groups
from equally diverse religious histories.

BUILDINGS
Today, we are fortunate to have inherited such a magnificent physical
plant. Located at 224 Mill Street South, the 1988 church addition
has a seating capacity of 150, including the 30 movable chairs
stationed along the back walls of the sanctuary. Our 1999 addition
allows for the possibility of an additional 75 seats. The magnificent
front wall is adorned with a bricked cross and the Luther Rose
Window. The interior is always adorned with seasonal and special
occasion banners and paraments. It is also equipped with a complete
sound system with portable wireless microphones for the speakers,
even though the acoustic is excellent.
The former worship space, now Fellowship Hall, and adjoining kitchen,
offer a suitable place for many fellowship and learning activities.
Our addition, in 1999, of a Parish Nurse Office, Youth Group/meeting
room space, and storage room has provided us with the required
flexibility for our needs. The expanded basement houses a Child
care Centre..

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
The life of our congregation, including its financial affairs,
is managed with an annual congregational meeting that elects
a Congregational Council. Augsburg Lutheran Church holds it's
Annual Meeting each year on a Sunday late in January or early
in February. During the meeting, the congregation receives reports
from the Council and its committees and task groups, receives
the full disclosure of all income and expenses from the previous
year, approves the budget and elects council members and delegates
to the synodical and/or national Church conventions.
The continuing management of the congregation is provided by the
Council, and an appointed president, vice-president, secretary
and treasurer. They usually meet on the second Tuesday of each
month and the proceedings are open to all members of the parish.
The elected members are responsible for the finances,
property and ministry programs of the congregation. They are accountable
to the congregation and are always available to the members to
discuss issues and answer questions. The Council appoints committee
members that are then accountable to the Council. These committees
are:
• Administration • Finance • Health • Learning
• Property
• Social Events • Social Ministry/Witness • World Mission • Worship • Youth
